Bubba and My Dad

Over the pandemic, my father’s dog passed away. He was very sad about this and swore that he would never get another dog.

Two weeks later, he got another dog.

His name is Bubba and he’s Havanese. Our phone conversations from that point forward mostly centred around Bubba and what shenanigans he was getting up to. I could tell my dad was smitten, despite his complaining about Bubba’s high energy.

One of my dad’s new hobbies is creating AI art with Bubba. I’ve seen Bubba as Napoleon; I’ve seem him drawing a Shambhala; I’ve seen him drinking wine while wearing a red beret. It’s nice that my father, who used to paint a lot, is finding a way to express his creativity through AI art.

When I launched my book with the #ReadingShooters hashtag, my dad decided he wanted to get in on the action, so he secretly began working on a portfolio of images of Bubba reading Shooters. He surprised me with them last Sunday and I love them. Here are the images.

Which one is your favourite?

You can watch my original Instagram footage of these with a surprise turn from the real Bubba here.
